Niall's POV:

"Are you alright?" Lyn held me in her arms, rocking me back and forth.

I didn't know what to say. Was I alright? "No," I answered honestly, pulling back to stare at her blue eyes that were now starting to shine with tears. "I don't think I ever will be if you don't tell me the secret."

She turned away, unable to look into my eyes. "I said I can't," she whispered harshly, but I could feel the regret and pain in her voice. "It's for your own good."

"What if I don't care?" I snapped, pushing her away. She had a shocked expression on her face, because of my sudden outburst. "What if I don't care about myself? What if I just care about you? What if I want to protect you?" And as she flinched at my loud, angry voice, I realized how true these words were.

"Really?" She asked in a small voice, cowering under me. I wanted to tell her I was sorry for shouting, for pushing her away from me, but I had to know the answers first.

"Really," I replied, and she helped me lay down.

She hesitated. "If you want..."
