Evelyn's POV:
After Niall got better, we boarded the plane to the America. Fans screamed so loud that I felt like my ears were bleeding. They tried to grab me, but failed when body guards intervened. The paparazzi bombarded us with questions.
"Who is that mysterious girl with you?"
"Is she one of your friends?"
Harry, is she your new girlfriend?" My heart dropped and my I suddenly felt sick. Harry's new girlfriend. Meaning he had a lot.
"Come on," Niall urged, tugging on my sleeve. I climbed onto the plane, avoiding peoples' gazes by hanging my head. I sat down in the first class seat.
"Sorry about that," Niall apologized, "sometimes they're really annoying."
"It's not your fault," I assured him as I scooted closer to him. Immediately, I felt this horrible guilt inside of me. I was leading him on while I just really liked someone else... "That's how the paparazzi get money. They stick their nose into your personal business."
Niall smiled warmly at me, and I could see something in his eyes. A hidden emotion. What was it? Friendship? Disgust? Love?
Somehow, I had to get Niall to know I didn't really like him as more of a friend. I tried edging farther and farther away from him, but he only scooted closer and closer. When he talked, I acted like I wasn't interested (when I actually really was, since the topic was food), but he just droned on and on, not paying attention to ME. Sometimes I think when he talks to other people, he gets into his own planet and it seems like he's talking to himself.
Once, I actually tried interrupting him.
"And, this hamburger was so giganti--"
"Cool," I said as I leaned back in my chair.
"Yeah, I know, right?" He said excitedly. "And then the dessert..."
As he talked on and on and on, I knew one thing. Making him get the idea that I wasn't IN LOVE with him was going to be a very difficult task.
