Chapter 8

“Can’t we go back to the hotel now?” I pleaded.

Currently me and Harry were walking around Dallas. Him in some sort of ridiculous disguise so fans didn’t recognize him, while I was just in something casual. You know since I’m not famous and I doubt any of their fans know I exist.

“No. It’s only midday.” Harry replied sternly.

A groan escaped my lips at his answer. I wasn’t really in the mood to walk around Dallas and see their sites. I just wanted to be back in my hotel room where no one could see me. Where I was alone so I didn’t have to put up with anyone’s stupid crap.

“But we’ve been walking around this stupid city for five hours!” I argued back. I was pretty determined to get my way.

“Kim you can’t stay cooped up in the hotel every single day. That wasn’t the point of you coming with us. So shut up and at least try to enjoy yourself.” Harry snapped at me.

I stopped in my tracks and just stared at him. I wasn’t used to him being like this. I was used to kind, gentle Harry. Not the one who snapped at me and didn’t even give me a choice in whether I wanted to go out or not. This might be his thing, but it wasn’t mine.

“I keep telling you that I don’t want to be here.” I said softly, not daring to look at him. I didn’t like angry Harry.

Harry breathed out deep sigh as he closed the space between us. His big hand reached out and cupped my cheek, while he moved my head up so I was looking into his eyes.

“Kim this could be good for you, if you just gave it a chance.” His voice was low and raspy, while our eyes stayed connected. God damnit, how I hate his eyes.

Closing my eyes, I breathed in a couple of breaths and let them out. I knew he was right. This could be good for me. No it would be good for me if I just gave it a chance. But I didn’t want to. I didn’t want to risk the chance of me starting to forget Lucas. I refused to let myself do that. I refused to let my first love go.

“Fine. But we better go back to the hotel within the next three hours.” I sternly told him.

I tried to keep a serious face on but it only lasted a few seconds, because his adorable dimple-showing smile came out and it almost melted my heart. God this wasn’t fair at all.

“Come on. Let’s go shopping.” Harry said, rather cheerfully now that I’d given in.

“Ugh! You’re just as bad as Beth.” I mumbled.

I’d never been a big shopper. Sure I liked window shopping and staring at clothes. But that’s about as much as I did. I never liked trying on clothes or buying stuff. Beth on the other hand. She was a bit of a shopaholic. See whatever store Beth walks into, she always walks out with a bag full of items. I know. She’s bad and I try to stop her but she doesn’t listen to me. Just like she tries to get me to buy stuff and I don’t listen to her. Guess we’re both just too stubborn to listen to the other.

“Wait you’re telling me, you don’t like shopping?” I could tell Harry was surprised by the look on his face.

“Yep.” I popped the p.

“Wow. Never thought I’d met a girl who didn’t like shopping.” He said, rather amazed.

“Well you just have buddy.” I said, gently nudging him in the side.

“Hey what was that for?” He asked, giving me a look.

I shrugged. “Just felt like it.” I scrunched up my nose.

“I don’t know if I want to hang out with you anymore.” Harry joked. Sure he sounded serious but I knew he was joking. I don’t know why, but I could just tell.

“Then I can go back to the hotel.” I teased.

“You wouldn’t.” He countered.

“Oh but I would.” I replied and without me noticing, a grin had appeared on my face.

“Hah! I told you you’d enjoy this.” Harry proudly said.

“What are you talking about?” I asked, confused.

“Well you don’t now but before you had a grin on your face. And it’d still be there if you weren’t confused.” Harry explained, keeping his eyes on me.

My eyes widened a bit because I knew he was right. I had been enjoying myself and it hadn’t taken long for me too. I can’t explain it. It’s just something about Harry that makes me forget everything I’ve promised myself. It’s like I forget everything when I’m around him and that’s dangerous.

“Shut up.” I muttered and began to pick up my pace.

“Oh come on Ki-“

I carried on walking fast, expecting Harry to pick up where he suddenly left off. But he didn’t. So I kept walking, thinking he was still behind me. Boy was I wrong.

It wasn’t until I realized I was completely lost, that I turned around to talk to Harry. But he wasn’t there. He was nowhere to be found. I did however see a big group of girls, with t-shirts that had I <3 Harry on the fronts and I knew they were looking for him. But where was he? Why’d he just leave me?

Was I really that bad, that he couldn’t stand my company?

***

Four ‘o’ clock. That’s when I finally managed to find my way back to the hotel. I know what you’re thinking. ‘Why didn’t you just call someone to come pick you up?’

The answer is simple. My stubbornness got the better of me. Once I realized that Harry had left me, I decided to retrace our steps and just go back to the hotel. But on the way I managed to make a few wrong turns and ended up completely lost. Even when I tried to retrace my mistakes. In the end, I gave up and just got a taxi back to the hotel. The taxi driver didn’t bother trying to start a conversation with me, because it was pretty darn clear I wasn’t in the mood for small talk.

So I made my way up to the floor we were on and headed straight towards my door. But then I saw who was standing outside my door. Harry. Not just Harry. But every fucking one. Just what I need.

“Can you please move so I can get into my room.” I asked them all politely once I’d reached them. They all just stood and looked from me to Harry though.

“MOVE PEOPLE!!!” I yelled after a minute of silence.

It was probably more the look on my face than my actual yelling, that got everyone (expect Harry) to quickly make their way into Liam’s room. Which was just a couple of meters down from my room.

“Move Harry.” I snapped. I wasn’t in the mood for his stupid games.

“Kim just let me explain.” He begged, but I wasn’t having his excuses.

“Explain what? Explain how you just disappeared and left me in the streets of fucking Dallas all by myself. When you fucking knew that I didn’t even want to be walking around the city in the first place! Do you want to explain how you should have fucking got someone to come find me once you’d realized you’d lost me. I mean Jesus fucking Christ Harry; you could have at least given me some sort of warning that you were going to abandon me!”

He honestly looked shocked at my outburst but I didn’t care. I was beyond furious with him that I didn’t care about the fact the others had opened Liam’s door and were standing out in the hallway watching us. I didn’t care about having some privacy. Instead all I thought about was how much I hated Harry right now.

“Kim please just-“

“I don’t want to hear it Harry. I really don’t. I was trying to like being out in the city with you. I was fucking trying and you left! You left and didn’t contact me just like when you moved to England. So fuck you and fuck your stupid band!”

In case you hadn’t noticed, I tend to swear when my emotions are high and when I don’t have any control over them. Not to mention, I say things that I’ll regret after I’ve cooled down. It just comes with having a temper like mine.

“Now move before I move you myself.” I growled at a very very stunned Harry.

It was a couple of seconds before Harry registered what I’d said and finally moved out of my way. But before I went into my room, I turned my blue eyes onto Beth.

“Don’t even fucking think about coming in here okay? I don’t want to talk to you or anyone right now. Because Harry’s obviously been back for hours because he’s changed and none of you bothered to come find me!”

And with that I walked into my hotel room, slammed the door and locked it. Deep down I knew I was probably over reacting but right now I didn’t care. If none of them bothered to care about my safety, I wasn’t going to bother to worry about their feelings.

At least for now I wasn’t.
