Knowing You

Lounging

TWO

“Oh, shizzz.” I giggled when I dropped my keys as I tried to open the door. I can’t even swear right now… this made me giggle further. My world was spinning as I bent down and grabbed my keys off the pavement. When I finally got the door open, I stumbled inside, reaching next to me for the light switch. When I couldn’t find it immediately, I gave up and wandered forward into the corridor.

“Hello.” I giggled to myself. The party was so fun… the guy who owned the house was giving out free shots. I’m almost eighteen; how could I not take advantage of that? I shifted towards the den and pulled out my phone. I looked at the bright light for a moment before I realized that two people were staring straight at me. I looked them in the eyes and started laughing.

“Um…” There was a deep voice that I didn’t recognize. I took a step back from where I had come from and shook my head, acting confused, “Gia.” Someone said.

“Who are you?!” I asked, about to start freaking out. I stumbled into the wall as they took another step towards me.

“It’s me, Liam. Remember? I was staying the night with Harry? He’s sleeping right now and I think I’m going to leave him that way so he doesn’t get any ideas with you being like this.”

“Being like what?” I questioned.

“Gia, you’re drunk. You should go to bed.” Liam offered, “Do you need some help getting upstairs?”

“No.” I snapped, “I think I’m quite content sleeping right here.” I stuck my tongue out at Liam before stumbling to the couch and plopping down. He sat down next to me and quietly told me that he was currently sleeping on this couch, “Where’s the other one sleeping?” I asked.

Liam pointed across the room and I could see Harry curled up on the couch. I could hear his breathing and see his curls from the top of the blanket that was covering him. I smiled to myself but then turned to look at Liam, “Sorry I took your spot.” I shrugged.

“You’re fine, don’t worry about it.” Liam winked. He then shifted to the side, grabbing one of the pillows before walking across the room to the leather chair. He sprawled in it, putting the pillow behind his back, “The couch is now open to you!” He said brightly.

“Thanks.” I grumbled before plopping down and curling up on the couch.

“Hey you annoying brat.” Someone said in my ear, “Get up.” I was then pulled from the couch. I crashed on the floor, groaning as my head hit the carpet.

When I opened my eyes, I found Ed standing above me. He had shoved me off the couch in an attempt to wake me up. The sun was shining through the room when I sat up, “What’s your problem?” I moaned, shoving him away.

“It’s almost eleven. My problem is that you need to get ready.”

“For what?” I questioned.

“For your party.” Ed smiled.

“A party?!”

“Yes. I’m throwing you a party tonight. You really thought I was going to just take you out to dinner on this monumental day? Happy Birthday by the way, sis.” Ed smiled, bending down and pressing a kiss to my forehead. I smiled, still processing that my famous brother was throwing me a bash.

“Are you serious right now?!” I smiled, jumping up and wrapping his arms around my neck. Ed smiled into me, reassuring me and telling me some more about my party. He had already sent out invitations to my friends and some people from my school that he knew.

“I’m guessing you told her about the party?” Someone said behind me. I turned to see none other than Harry standing on the floor of the den. He smiled to me then nodded, “Happy Birthday Gia.” He held out his arms and I laughed, giving him a brief hug, “You did good, Ed.” He added, “Look how happy she is!”

“Yes, but that wake up wasn’t the nicest.” Liam said, walking past us. He gave me a quick hug as well, telling me happy birthday before sitting down on the couch with a mug of tea.

Ed looked baffled, “You wander in past curfew last night all drunk and clobbering around… then you kick Liam out of his place to sleep for no reason. You could have walked your ass up to your room, yeah?”

“Sorry.” I told Liam. He waved it off and told me no problem. I shifted backwards, “Ok well this is all really sweet but I need to shower. I smell like vodka and cigarettes.”

***
After throwing on a t-shirt and some leggings, I wandered downstairs for some real breakfast slash lunch. I grabbed some fruit and plopped down on the couch. Harry and Liam were now dressed out of their pajamas and both drinking something out of mugs. I put my feet up on the coffee table and sighed, “What did my big brother get me for my birthday?”

“A party.” Ed said flatly.

“You can’t wrap that in a box.” I complained, winking at him.

“Oh shut up.” Ed groaned, throwing a couch pillow at my head. I ducked and it soared past me onto the floor. I smiled at Ed, explaining that I was kidding.

“I should get ready.” I said, “What time does the party start?”

“The official start is at 6 but you have to realize that we have to get there a few hours early… we have to set up the private lounge.”

“What? I only have like three hours to get ready? I really have to go now, then.” I groaned, getting up quickly. I started off towards the stairs but then I spun around, “Ed! I don’t even have a dress for this.”

“Just wear that one that you wore to the wedding last year, that was nice. Besides, it’s not like everyone at the party tonight will know what you wore to our aunts wedding.”

“Good point, I guess that will have to do.” I said before sprinting up the stairs.

My fingers clamped down around the lipstick container, slowly pulling the cap off with a pop. I was dressed in a skin tight black dress that went down to my mid thighs, my hair in long wavy curls down my back as I pushed them off my shoulders. I finished putting on my eye liner and the subtle grey slash brown shade for my eye shadow. The bush was flushing my cheeks perfectly… I know this because I re-did it at least three times.

The last finishing touch was my lipstick. I brought it up to my lips and opened my mouth slightly as I dragged the light red lipstick across my puckered lips. When I was finished, I slipped the top cap down and smiled in the mirror, checking for lipstick on my teeth. I quickly brushed them again before walking over to my bed.

My heels were classic; long, skinny and black. I held the straps on my finger and walked down the stairs with my clutch in the other hand and my coat draped over my arm. Ed was waiting for me in the front hallway, smiling in his suit, “You look good, sis.”

“Thanks.” I smiled brightly, giving him a huge hug before giggling, “I can’t believe I’m going to have a huge party tonight. Casey and Wendy are going to be driving up in an hour. Should we get going?”

“Yeah… we have to make sure everything is going good.” Ed nodded. I turned to the left and opened the shoe closet, pulling out some flats. I slipped them on my feet, “What about those heels?” He asked, pointing at the pair of shoes in my hand.

“I’m not going to sit in a car for forty five minutes with heels on, Ed.” I laughed, slipping on my coat and pulling my hair out from the collar, “Vamos.” I laughed, opening the front door to the evening air.

***
“This is amazing!” Casey giggled, jumping up and down in her floor length dress. It was blue and sparkly… nothing I would ever wear because of the sheer about of gaudiness that came along with it. Casey’s blonde hair was in tight, tight curls around her head, barely reaching shoulder length as she bounced around gleefully, taking in the sight of the lounge.

There was a cluster of couches and a bar that was to be serving free drinks all night that settled around the room. There was also a row of changing rooms that had long black curtains as doors so people could change into swimming suits for the long, skinny pool that outlined the whole lounge.

It was deep, and the water was a deep blue that made me want to jump in it already. I swirled my pre-party drink in the tall and skinny cocktail as Wendy and Casey still jumped about, looking at everything in the lounge. Ed was seated beside me on the couch, sipping on a can of beer.

“These drinks are so good!” My cousin Annie slurred, still sipping on her fourth drink already.

“Annie!” I cried, “The party hasn’t even started yet. There’s only been a few people who have gathered downstairs.”

“Oh, shush.” She giggled, walking over to the bar again. I shook my head, taking Ed’s arm and pulling him from the couch. He groaned, but allowed me to hook my arm in his and drag him towards the window of the private lounge. Below us, I could see a few people from my school sitting on the couches down there, buying drinks for each other and having a good time.

I wish everyone could be in the same area but that would require them to control themselves in front of some of the most famous people in the world… that’s nearly impossible. I sighed, “I wish I could be down there with my friends.”

Ed laughed, “Gia, you’re forgetting the part about a private lounge. When more people arrive, open the doors for just a minute. I’d still like to party…”

“Fine, I will.” I smiled, “After the boys arrive though… I don’t want them coming into chaos and freaking out… it’s about your guys’ safety, you know?”

“No.” Ed said, shaking his head, “No. It’s about your birthday, G. Anyway, I see their limo. The boys are here and the party can now start, let some people in, ok?” I nodded, making my way over to the lounge doors. There were some people standing outside and I smiled, letting them come inside. I shut the door before too many people wandered in so there was only about thirty people in the lounge area.

I went to the bar and filled my drink again just as the back doors opened. The boys stepped out, fancied up in suits and everything else. They smiled at some people, and I was glad that no one from my school or any of my friends were freaking out… Ed went and gathered some of them. Niall and Zayn went left, looking out the window at the party below us of the non-VIP people.

***
As the party went on, I sipped on more and more drinks, while the music seemed to get louder every minute. There were a lot of people in the surrounding pool and a lot of people were dancing to the beating music.

Ed was completely wasted, wandering around the room and talking to random people about our cat Izzy and how her orange fur makes her scary to dogs. I rolled my eyes as I listened to his conversation with a model looking girl nearby. I stood listening to them, giggling as he made a fool of himself. I was about to put an end to this girl’s misery by telling Ed to go talk to someone else but it didn’t matter, someone hooked an arm around my waist, spinning me to face them.

The sudden movement caught my almost wasted state out of guard, and I tilted awkwardly into the person but they caught me, steadying me quickly, “Hey there.” The deep voice sounded.

I looked up from my drink to find Harry smiling at me, “Hey Harry.” I smiled.

“I never got to say happy birthday to the birthday girl.” He winked, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me close. I let my arms hook around his shoulders, one of my hands resting on his bicep, the other on the back of his neck.

“You said happy birthday this morning.” I corrected, winking at him, “So you could be off the hook.”

He stifled a laugh, “Well, I just wanted to talk to you. Is that too much to ask, Gia?”

“No, I like talking to you.” I smiled.

“I’m happy to hear that. I feel the same way.” Harry chuckled, still keeping me steady, “Are you going to go swimming? I mean, it is your party.”

“Oh, no. Normally I would be all over that pool, but I’m not going swimming because everyone would think it was weird that I messed up my hair… it’s not really lady-like.” I giggled, twirling a wavy strand of my hair between my thumb and pointer finger.

“It’s your party, Gia. I think it’s cool that you’re not really worried about your hair like every single girl in this room. It’s really down to earth, actually.”

I blushed, smiling at the curly boy, “This is great.” I then looked around the lounge, “You came to my party!” I giggled, wrapping my arm around his shoulders. I can barely make sense of the world around me right now… I’ve definitely had way too much to drink.

“I did come. Like I said I would.” Harry offered, doing the same around my waist as I did with his shoulders. I leaned into him as he smiled, hooking a finger under my chin and tilting my face to look at him, “You look really pretty tonight. I’ve behaved myself because Ed asked me too but I don’t think I can keep my hands off you much longer.” He whispered, pecking a kiss to my temple.

My cheeks became rosy red and I leaned away from Harry… that definitely sobered me up a little bit… the room suddenly felt a billion times hotter and I shifted away from him, “I think I’m going to get a drink.” I smiled to him before stepping away from the impossibly cute guy with the perfect ringlets of hair.

I found myself sitting at the bar on a stool, drinking my alcohol rather quickly. I watched my friends and family dance around the room, enjoying themselves. Just as I was about to join Casey and Wendy on the dance floor, Liam stepped in my way, “Hi Gia.” He smiled.

“Liam!” I smiled, giving him a brief hug, “How are you?”

“I saw you this morning.” He laughed, pulling back and leaning an elbow on the bar. I watched him smile at me, “Would you like to dance?”

“Sure.” I said, setting my drink down and accepting his hand. He pulled me off the stool and I fixed my dress with my free hand as we made our way onto the dance floor. I have to be honest with myself, Liam is a great guy… I’ve heard a lot about him from Ed and I really want someone like that to be my friend. As far as Ed is concerned, he is probably the best friend you can have.

When Liam and I reached the dance floor, he twirled me around before pulling me towards his body. When we collided a laugh left my mouth and he giggled himself. His hands found my waist and I swayed to the music in front of him. I kept my distance appropriate from his body and the music compelled us to dance. Liam spun me away from him, but kept a hold on my hand.

Before I could come back to his body, I was pulled gently the other way. I looked over to find Harry stand there. He clamped his hand down on mine, and pulled me away from Liam. I spun into Harry’s chest and then spun out again. Harry took my other hand in his and pulled me closer to his body. I turned my head to see Liam already dancing with Ed and some other friends.

Something tells me that the boys are used to Harry stealing their dance partners when they feel like it. I turned back to Harry to find him smiling at me brightly. I kept my body moving so he couldn’t press me firmly to his. When the beat dropped from the song, everyone started dancing faster and harder. I spun away from Harry and he grabbed my arms, pulling me back to his body. My ass was firmly pressed to his front as I was enclosed in his arms.

He reached around me, hooking his fingers in mine and moving us both. I swayed my hips to his movement and lifted my head back to rest on his shoulder. He smiled, pecking my cheek with his lips quickly before spinning me around.

I felt his hand slide painfully slow down my back and finally rest on the small of my back, just above my bum. His hand slowly took hold of my wrist, pulling it towards him so I would wrap my arms around his neck. I rested my hands on the back of his neck as the song changed to a slower one.

“I WAS dancing with Liam.” I smiled as the songs beat finally allowed us to hear each other as we swayed our hips to the same beat together.

“I was jealous of him.” Harry smirked, “Besides, I know that you enjoy dancing with me.”

“Oh?” I laughed, “Why are you so sure?”

“I can see it in your eyes.” He shrugged, bringing his face closer to mine, “A person’s eyes reveal what they are feeling… I can pretty much tell what any person is feeling at any given time.”

“Yeah?” I questioned teasingly, “So what’s that person feeling at the moment?” When Harry asked me who I looked around, then decided on Liam.

“Liam?” Harry asked, looking closer at Liam. He squinted his eyes at him then smiled looking back at me, “Liam is very happy right now. He’s enjoying himself at your party.”

“Um, Harry.” I giggled, “I hate to break it to you but everyone is enjoying my party. It doesn’t take an expert eye reader to figure that out.”

“Fine.” Harry said stiffly, “I’ll do Niall. He’s looking at us right now.” I watched Harry concentrate on Niall. I even glanced over to see the blonde looking at both of us. Harry then chuckled, “He’s jealous. He’s jealous that I’m dancing with you right now.”
