All That We See or Seem
I'm gone
Brooklyns P.O.V
Quietly as I can, I pull myself from the chair. I'm about to grab the nearest weapon when Sara's head pops around the corner. I jump, as a small scream escapes my pale lips.
"I'm sorry! I thought you'd still be sleeping. " Sara says with sadness in her voice.
Sara is the only person I communicate with. She is the only one I trust. Except for small talk at work with customers.
"It's fine. Next time though, could you knock?" I say quietly.
"Of course. So I'm done packing all my things" I grab my empty coffee mug and sit it in the sink.
"Oh, well when do you fly out?" My voice shakes but I try not to sound sad.
"Tomorrow, at 9am" She says full of excitement.
"That's great" My voice sounding uninterested.
It's not that I don't want Sara to go, I just feel more safe with her around. And besides she's the only family I have. She was there for me in the hospital, after everything that happened. Now my mind is racing again, memories come flooding back into my head.
*Flashback*
My eyes are still shut, everything is black. In the distance I can hear faint sounds.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Wait Sara's here?
"Brooklyn, wake up. Come on love, open your eyes" Sara says, sadness evident in her voice.
I try with all my strength to open my eyes. It feels like all my muscles are shut down, like I am being held down. I try again, this time succeeding. Everything around me is white. There is a door across from my bed and two chairs to the left of my bed. I look to the right and see Sara looking at me in disbelief. She quickly walks out the door and returns a few moments later with a doctor. As he introduces himself and explained what happens, my body feels like jello.
"I'm sorry Brooklyn, he's done this to many girls, but he seems to have an interest in you. Unfortunately they can't find him" Dr.Gates says.
My eyes shoot towards him.
He leaves the room after talking to Sara about some pain killers. I break into tears and she wraps me up into a hug.
"I'm always here" She whispered,.
*End of flashback*
I can tell Sara sees the sadness in my eyes because she rubs her hand up and down my arm for comfort.
"Hey, why don't you come with me? You are out of school and can stay just for the summer and see if you like it?" Her voice sounds excited again.
"Sara, I wouldn't want to intrude" I say thinking about it.
"Nonsense! Please it would be so much more comforting to know you're safe!" She's beggig now.
I think it over in my head. It gives me a chance to get away from him. He could never find me. Joy explodes in my heart thinking about never seeing him again it sends a smile on my face.
"Ok, you go book me a flight and I'll start packing" She squeals with excitement and flies out my door.
I'm gone, for good.
