The Driver Of Our Tour Bus

Transformation

This boy was either crazy or had no idea the appropriate time to make a fucking joke, a lame one at that. I just eyed him up and down, noticing his appearance since I didn’t get the chance when he walked in got on my ass about his job being in danger.

His items of clothing looked expensive, each of them, and I think I could smell Armani on him but none of them matched. The color and style of each item were so different and not in a good and sophisticated way. It was like a nerd guy’s attempt to appear as a handsome boy, well that was an epic fail! He clearly had the money but none a proper fashion sense.

“So?” He eyed me quizzically.

“So what?” I answered. He wasn’t referring to the ‘me taking the job as Joe’ thing right? He couldn’t be that much of an idiot.

“What do you think about my idea? Genius isn’t it?” Well turned out he could be.

I looked at the victorious grin on his face and my jaw dropped half open.

“Alex… I think you’ve watched too many movies like ‘She’s The Man’, pal!” I couldn’t help but smile. There was this childish air about him that made me feel comfortable.

“What the hell is ‘She’s The Man’?” He asked, confusion evident in his voice.

So he hadn’t even watched the movie and had come up with the idea all by himself, genius indeed, not! When I remained silent he decided to convince me.

“Look! Like you said you don’t have a license to drive buses and you’re a girl. You think they’d hand over their precious boy band to a 19 year old girl who doesn’t know how to drive a bus?”
He explained, emphasizing the word and.

I could see the first one as being an issue. Yes I didn’t know how to drive a bus, but what was wrong with being a girl?

“Why wouldn’t they hand over their precious boy band to a girl exactly?” I asked, mocking his choice of words and tone.

“You don’t know who they are, do you? 99% of their fandom is consisted of girls, young ones.”

So they were the new Back Street Boys?

“Meaning?” I asked, still confused.

“Okay let me be more specific. Not a concert goes by without some pairs of bras being thrown at them. Once a girl threw a shoe at one of the boys and it hit him in the…”

My eyes widened in surprise. Okay, I’ve got to admit they had a pretty weird fandom. When I didn’t say anything Alex went on.

“And these all happens from a distance, while they’re on stage. What do you think they’d do if they could have a bus with them all to themselves? My bets are on raping them all.”

I couldn’t help laughing. Maybe what he said wasn’t entirely true but I was starting to get a sense of why I couldn’t take that job as a girl.

“What if they find out?”

A smile appeared on Alex’s lips at the sign of me considering what he offered me.

“They won’t.” He tried to assure me.

“How do you know that?!” I rolled my eyes.

“They won’t if we do something about your appearance.” He said as he walked up closer to me and touched my hair which was in a bun. “Starting with your hair.”

I didn’t usually let my hair grow long, it was kind of the first time that it had reached this length and I had to cut it? Life sure is a bitch.

“Okay where can we find a pair of scissors?” He asked as he took a look around the room.

“If you think I’m letting you cut my hair, you’re…” I was cut off by his hand dismissing my whole sentence.

“My dad was a barber, you know? I’d go and work in his shop in summers. So I’m kinda a professional. He didn’t pay me much and the costumers could be so bitchy sometimes, especially the old ones but the good thing was right after I was finished with my job each day I went to this ice cream…” He talked a lot for a boy! Was he seriously telling me about his childhood memories? I mean it didn’t even take him half an hour to open up.

“Alex! Okay I got the idea, you can cut my hair!” I huffed in frustration. ‘Just shut up and do your job. I’m in no mood for this freaking bonding conversations.’ I added to myself mentally.
Minutes later, I was sitting in a chair we had placed in bathroom in front of them mirror and Alex was cutting my hair. To be honest he looked like he was good at what he was doing.
“Okay, so tell me a little bit about this boyband, One… what was it?”

He stopped cutting my hair for a second and rolled his eyes at me in the mirror. He then fished his phone out of his pocket and gave it to me, showing me a picture of five boys who looked kind of gay at first glance.

He then went back to cutting my hair, leaving his phone in my lap.

“It’s One Direction! How come you’ve never heard of them?”

“I’ve heard of them before. It’s just that I haven’t listened to any of their songs and I don’t know them. I haven’t really had a lot of extra time for stuff like this in the past few years.” I just shrugged, which earned me a gentle slap on my right shoulder as a protest to my movement.

“So the curly haired one is Harry Styles. The blonde one is Niall Horan. The one with dark hair and the huge quiff is Zayn Malik, the one in the plaid shirt is Liam Payne and the one who looks kinda gay is Louis Tomlinson... He's not though.” Oh Alex.....

He let me play some of their music as he was doing his job and I guess they were alright except that some of the lyrics were kinda perverted. Not that I minded that in a music or anything but the thought that I was going to live with five possibly perverted boys for two months stressed me out.

I was listening to how the boys wanted the girl to rock them when to my relief Alex announced that his work was done. I quickly stopped the music and looked at myself in the mirror. I missed my long hair already and even though I looked kinda didn’t look that girly with the hair style Alex had given me I still wasn’t sure if I could convince people I was a boy.

“I say you’d make a handsome boy.” Alex said as he messed up my hair.

I gave him a half hearted smile and shrugged.

“Now we just have to get you some clothes and do something about your… er… girly parts?” He said awkwardly as he scratched the back of his head.

“Oh! I can handle that myself… and as for the clothes, I just use joe’s.”

I called the café I worked at said that I was going to resign. I was sure about one thing, I wouldn’t miss working there.

Alex gave me some tips, like how to walk and sit and talk like a boy which all concerned being inappropriate.

He kept giving me advices until the last second he was leaving and just before he left he placed a soft, friendly kiss on my newly cut hair.

“I know you can do it, Jessie. See you tomorrow.”
