Like Crazy (Harry Styles & Niall Horan AU)

Chapter Three

I swiped my finger across my bottom lip, spreading my lipgloss.
"You look great," Lilly complimented me.
"Thanks" I mumbled.
I honestly didn't give a crap about how a looked, but I knew if I didn't dress up my mother would have a total meltdown and insist on picking out my outfit, and I would end up looking like Princess Diana.
Not exactly my style.
"I don't know why your so against this date. Harry is H-O-T" Lilly gushed.
"It's not Harry himself... It's just I don't want to marry a businessman and I don't want to go out with anyone my parents force me to. That person just happens to be..Harry" I sighed.
Lilly rolled off of my bed and stood next to me.
"Well if you don't want him, I call dibbs"
"Hah. Discuss That with my mother" I laughed.
"JULIA! Harry is here!" My mom yelled from the bottom of the stairs.
"Speak of the devil," I said, hurriedly putting on my shoes and rushing down the stairs.
"Have fun!" Lilly called after me.
"I'll try" I laughed, hitting the tile at the end of the staircase.
I was so nervous I almost tripped over the rug as I reached for the door handle.
My mother stood next to me, smiling eagerly. I was surprised she hadn't let Harry in already and showed him every baby picture and academic award I had ever received, but was grateful she hadn't .
"Remember be polite, get the dinner salad and don't say anything that makes you sound... Weird," my mother instructed me.
I fought the urge to roll my eyes as I nodded my head, and quickly opened the door before she had a chance to say more.
"Hello, Julia" Harry smiled.
"Hi, Harry" I responded, opening the door wider and motioning for him to come in.
He shook my mothers hand and was a little shocked when he extended his hand to me. I awkwardly shook it.
"Well you two kids have a great time," my mom instructed.

"We will, thank you Mrs.Parker" Harry said, linking his arm with mine as he walked me to his car.
Honestly, I wasn't enjoying the date already. It felt incredibly formal, like I was going to Prom, not out on a date.
I wasn't the dinner date type of person, I liked the types of dates where you do something... Go rollerblading or rock climbing or something fun.
Not sitting across from them at a five star restaurant and eating nothing but salad because if I ordered real food it would make me look 'barbaric'.
Harry opened the car door for me and I thanked him as I sat down. I was bracing myself for the awkward car ride as Harry got in the car.
He looked over at me and flashed a smile. "I'm looking forward to getting to know you," he said.
I felt myself blushing. We began driving and I felt the need to break the silence.
"Uh, so, where are we going?"
"They have an amazing restaurant at our country club, I thought we could go there," He said.
I nodded. We drove for a few minuets in silence.
Harry's hands were gripped tightly on the steering wheel, as if he was nervous about something. His piercing green eyes were locked on the road. He was wearing a concentrated frown, which curved up into a smile once he realized I was watching him.
I quickly turned to look out the window.
"Like what you see?" He asked, causing me to blush.
I was relieved when we pulled into the valet. Harry handed the keys over to the varlet who shook Harry's hand.
"Have a good night,Mr.Styles" He said.
"Thanks, Fred" He said. Harry put his arm around my waist as he led me inside, catching me by surprise.
The country club was beautiful, I expected a fancy venue. We entered the dimly light restaurant area.
"Hello, Mr.Styles" The young waitress smiled when she saw Harry.
Did everyone know him here? I wondered. It felt like every time I went out with my dad.
She showed us to a table and informed us that the waiter would be with us soon.
I took a moment to intake the environment.
There was a dance floor, and a band playing slow jazz music.

A few couples were dancing, nobody I recognized. Harry and I seemed to be the youngest people here.
A young Blonde and brown haired waitress, who, logically, knew Harry as well, came to take our order. I ordered the dinner salad and lemon ice water, I was focused on the way the waitress looked at Harry as he ordered.
She was smiling, her deep blue eyes intently on Harry. I shook it off as she walked away and Harry looked up at me.

"So," he began, "Tell me about yourself," I felt like I was at a job interview.
"How about we play a game?" I suggested.
Harry raised an eyebrow.
"Okay so, you have sixty seconds to tell me as much about you as possible and ill do the same," I explained.
"Sure" he said. I took out my phone and set the timer.
"You go first," he smiled. I handed him my phone.
"Ready?Go!" He said, hitting the start button.
"Okay my name is Julia Rose Parker I'm almost seventeen, my favorite color is yellow my favorite season is winter, Train is my favorite band but Imagine Dragons is a close second, I'm a tad obsessed with Ariana Grande, Im in love with film making and-"
I was cut off my the timer. I looked up at Harry. He looked Interested in something behind me and I looked behind me to see that blonde waitress. She was taking off her apron and taking to a different waitress.
"Earth to Harry," I said, rather annoyed.
"I-I'm sorry," he said, clearly still in a daze. "Your turn," I said, trying not to care that his attention was not at all on me, his date.
"Go" I instructed.
"I'm Harry Edward Styles. My favorite color is green I was born February first 1994, I have a strange obsession with cats, I hope to go off to either Harvard or Yale, I play soccer and I-"
"Time" I told him.
Harry sounded like a somewhat interesting person, still not my type of guy.
A few moments later, a new waitress brought us our food. We exchanged small talk over dinner, and all I wanted was for it to be over.
Just as Harry was waving over the waitress for the check, I noticed someone approaching us.
He had on a plain blue polo, and his dirty blonde hair was in a quiff, something I had always found adorable.
As he came closer I saw he had clear blue eyes, he was average hight, 5'8 maybe.
"Hey!" He said to Harry once he had reached the table.

"Niall!" Harry said, standing up and hugging the blonde boy, Niall apparently.
"Haven't seen you since I got expelled!" Niall laughed.
Harry joined him in laughter, while I was utterly confused.

Who was he? And why did he get expelled?
The confusion I was feeling was clearly evident as Harry quickly said,
"Julia, this is my good friend, Niall. Niall, this is Julia"
"Nice to meet you," I smiled, extending my hand.
Completely ignoring it, Niall gave me a hug. He smelled amazing, and if it wasn't getting awkward I would have never pulled away.
"Nice to meet you too," he smiled.
All of the sudden, the band began playing Drops Of Jupiter by Train.
"Oh my gosh this is my favorite song!" I squealed.
"Care to dance?" Harry asked.
I nodded, wanting to dance with Niall, but taking Harry's hand.
He nodded at Niall, saying they'd talk later before leading me to the dance floor, which had become much more populated.

Now she's back in the atmosphere, drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey-ey-ey

Harry and I swayed to the music, I closed my eyes, letting it completely engulf me.
She walks like summer and talks like rain, reminds me that there's time to change hey-ey-ey

The space was crowded, and I could barely see the dance floor.
Suddenly someone tapped me on the shoulder. It was that blonde waitress.
"Mind if i cut in?" She asked sweetly.
I looked at Harry, but he was only looking at her.
I harshly ripped my hands from him.
"Go ahead," I muttered.
I shuffled In between couples and made my way to the edge of the dance floor, sighing heavily.
"Want to dance?" Someone asked from behind.
I halfway thought it was Harry, as he always seems to sneak up on me, but was pleasantly surprised to see it was Niall.
I smiled and nodded, taking his hand.
He put his hands on my waist and I had mine around his neck.

I was a terrible dancer but dancing with Niall was fun. Just as the chorus hit, he spun me around.

Tell me, did you fall from a shooting star –One without a permanent scar?And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there?

"I love this song" I smiled.
"Me too," he agreed.
"So, how do you know Harry?" I asked, trying to strike up conversation.
"We met at school. We both went to a private all boys elementary. We were pretty good friends. We didn't keep in touch as much after I got expelled, I don't think his parents liked me," he laughed.
I laughed too, thinking of Jeff and Melinda.
"I suppose you've met them then?" Niall asked.
"His parents and mine are the whole reason I am even standing here right now," I sighed.
He spun me around again.
"Harry not your first choice?" Niall smiled.
"It doesn't matter how I feel... It's kind of an arranged thing"

Can you imagine no love, pride, deep fried chicken?

"Hold up! No deep fried chicken?!" Niall asked, flabbergasted.
I giggled.
"Your a fan?"
"Don't come between me and a Nando's, I'm warning you now," He said, mock-seriously, making me laugh, again.
I was looking over at Harry and our waitress, who seemed to be having a rather nice time together.
Niall followed my gaze to Harry.
"Are you okay with that?" He asked.
I shook my head, looking at the ground.
"Yeah- I mean it's not like we're together and I'm dancing with you, right?" I smiled.
The song ended, and I saw Harry walking towards us.
I quickly detached myself from Niall.
"Are you ready to go, Julia?" He asked.
I nodded, and turned to Niall.
"It was so great to meet you" I said.
"You too" he smiled.
He waved to Harry as we made our way out.
Harry was saying something to me but the only thing on my mind was Niall.
~~~
The ride home was silent, and I was relieved when we pulled into my driveway.
Harry opened the door for me and walked me to the door.
"I had a great time, Julia" Harry smiled.
I scoffed. He spent more time with our waitress than his date.
"Me too," I smiled sweetly.
He leaned in and kissed me on the cheek.
"Bye Julia" He smiled, walking down the stairs.
"Bye, Harry" I said in a hoarse whisper, running my hand over where he had kissed me.
I walked inside and quietly snuck to my room, falling on my bed and just... Thinking.
