Louis' POV:

I woke up and went to hug the person next to me, but only found the space empty. Confused, I got up to the kitchen. Where was Sammie?

I looked outside the window and saw her walking along the beach, calling someone. Immediately, my fists clenched together. It better not be Niall... Suddenly I felt regret that Niall and I were so far apart now. Someday, I hoped we would have a better, stronger friendship but for now, I needed Sammie. I loved her so much, and those five months when she was in the hospital almost killed me.

I went outside, the sand soft and hot underneath the sun. The waves washed over my feet, but Sammie didn't notice me yet.

I heard her sigh and end the call, and as she was turning around, she bumped into me. "Oh, Louis..." I could see the tear tracks on her cheeks.

"What happened?" I asked, not even thinking of inquiring her about who she called.

"It's Niall." She wiped her eyes in vain because more tears just flowed out. "There's been an accident."

"I'll get the plane tickets."

We were at the hospital in Niall's room. We had found out that a car had skidded and hit Niall who was walking down the street.

"Niall, are you alright?" Sammie rushed to his side. "We only just arrived, we just heard..." She started crying even more.

"I'm fine," Niall said cheerfully, smiling up at her. "Now, if it's alright, can I speak with Louis alone?"
