Will You Stay?

Chapter 4

I tried as hard as I could to forget the incident with Jace. I hadn't seen him since, but I knew he would be back. I couldn't erase that dark brown - almost black - hair, those dark unforgiving eyes, and the way he smirked at me through the window, as if to say 'I'll be back, Meadow.'

Harry had asked me on another date, this time after school on Tuesday. He took me to Starbucks, and led me inside. We walked up to the worker and ordered our drinks - Mine a Java Chip Frappuccino , and his a Chai Tea Latte. We sat at a table with two bar seats and sat.
"So, I was hoping to learn a bit more about you, yeah?" He slowly questioned.
"Alright, what would you like to know?" I responded, noticing a small bruise hidden by his hair. I would have to ask him later what had happened.
"Well, do you have plans for the future? Like, would you want to move away, what kind of job would you like?"
"Hmmm. Well I've always loved photography, so that's one of my career options." I mentally scrolled through my long list of career choices, picking out my favorites. "I also like to write books, so I could become a writer." I took a sip of my Caramel drink, enjoying the way it tasted on my tongue. "Now if I do end up moving, I would pick either New York, or somewhere out of the country. If I chose to be a photographer, I'd like to be able to travel to a lot of different places. What about you? What're your plans?" I questioned.
"Well I haven't really found anything I'm interested in, but I'd probably pick a small business. Maybe selling CD's in a shop, but I'd like it to be something with music." I admired his choice. Most guys I knew weren't involved with music. Harry, I realized, couldn't be compared to guys I knew. "Yeah. If I picked a musical career, I'd sell instruments and CD's." He smiled at this.
"What instruments do you play?"
"Well, I learned piano when I was three, but I'm not as good as it sounds." I told him. "I can also play a little guitar, ukulele, and I'm in the process of learning cello." His eyes widened a bit. "I didn't think you played anything, to be honest." He confessed. I asked him if he played any instruments, but he said he didn't. He told me his friend Niall would sometimes try to teach him guitar, but Harry was useless. I told him about my plans to move in with Emily (who I still had to introduce to Harry) when we're eighteen. We would get a nice apartment, and start working on our careers. Harry said he wanted to stay with Niall for a couple more years, then they would live on their own. It had come time for us to leave, so we threw our empty cups on the trash, and walked out the door, with Harry's arm gently draped across my shoulders, my arm around his waist.

We had walked for awhile and found ourselves in Pier Park, sort of like a Boardwalk, and amusement area for Panama City. I absolutely loved this area of our town, and visited often. There were loads of shops lined up, from gift shops to seafoodd and lobster. There were palm trees every ten to fifteen steps, and families vacationing were running to the ice cream and desserts. We stopped at a large area on top of a small hill. It was grassy, and if the sun hadn't set already, the trees would have created a canopy to shield us from the bright streams of light. There were benches scattered around, where couples could sit and enjoy each others company. Which is exactly what we did. After a while of sitting and overlooking the whole park, I broke out with the question: "Harry, where did you get that bruise from?" I could see it as the breeze blew Harry's hair away from the injury. I noticed a small cut spread across the center. He looked at me and said, "Don't worry about it. I just ran into something." This would have made me laugh, imagining strong and manly looking Harry running into something - except the fact I could tell he was lying. "I know that's not what happened." I looked into his sparkling green eyes. "You'd better tell me, Harry." I tried looking stern, but I knew I wouldn't be able to pull it off. "Nothing's wrong, I swear, Meadow, it's nothing." He looked away. "I'll leave it alone this time, but if I see another injury on your face, you'd better be ready to talk." I said. The rest of the night, I worried about, who caused it. I knew someone did it, because Harry was not klutzy enough to run into something.
HARRY'S POV

Meadow saw the bruise. I hoped that my hair would hold still for one night to conceal it, but it was just my luck that she found out. He was following her. I had to get him to stop. Jace was dangerous, and if he hurt Meadow, she could die. I knew we had only been on two dates, but I truly cared for her. She knew Jace was following her, but what she didn't know was for how long. I had seen Meadow going places, but when I looked closer, Jace was always there. I had to get him to stop following her, so when I saw him walking out of her neighborhood, I went after him. All I wanted was for him to leave Meadow alone, but the last words he said before he got away from me were, "I know where she lives. You can't protect her from me!" Then he ran of, leaving me with only a bruise. I couldn't say the same about him though, I had surely broken his nose, and split his eyebrow open. I just hoped I could keep Meadow safe. I knew what he could do, I had experienced his anger firsthand, almost getting killed in the process. Not many people knew that I was the guy who was almost killed by Jace. But he had a few friends join in, and five to one? Well, not many people could handle that.

MEADOW'S POV

I was starting to get really freaked about Jace. Now, everywhere I went, he would be there. How can I stay calm when someone as dangerous as him was stalking me? I called Emily, hoping I could confide in her about this. "What am I gonna do!?" I screamed into the phone after explaining to her that Jace was stalking me. "I-I don't know! I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have ever taken you that morning! I'm so sorry, Meadow!"
"I mean, I don't know if I should call the cops, or just wait it out, but I'm so confused!" I didn't want to call the cops, because Jace was sneaky. He would probably get away before the cops could get a glimpse of him. I even had nightmares now. He was already invading my everyday life, now my subconsciousness?! I was going to go insane if this didn't stop. I said goodbye to Emily, and she said we'd meet tomorrow after school and talk some more about it. I went to sleep, praying not to have any more dreams of Jace...
