"Who's your little friend, Styles?"
"You wouldn't mind if we took her for a spin?"
"Let's torture her and have him watch, eh?"
Voices were coming from all around me, from under the dark hoods of strangers. Harry was next to me, gripping my hand tightly, and trying to keep me from the monsters.
I jumped at the sensation of cold and clammy hands gripping my arms, dragging Harry and I apart.
"Meadow! No!" Harry's voice rang in my ears, as his figure grew smaller and farther away.
I couldn't scream, let alone speak. I was suffocated by the figures, and as I struggled to escape, the hood of one of my captors fell off.
Jace.
He bent down next to my face, and I grimaced at his foul breath, and his pointed teeth.
"I'm back. Did you miss me?" His eyes were red, and I mean red. Harry's were green, mine were blue and green, and Jace's were a dark and bloody red. His skin looked rotted, and it was peeling in some places, allowing me to see the bone. My observations were interrupted by the devastating sound of Harry's screams. They were torturing him.
"No! Stop it!" My mind screamed, my mouth formed the words but no sound would come out.
I was panicked, my pulse was racing, and my eyes darting back and forth trying to find Harry.
I sat up in bed immediately, my breaths shallow and uneven.
I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around me, comforting me.
"Shhh, I'm here." Harry whispered soothingly into my ear. I hated this. The nightmares had only happened twice, but I had a feeling they would keep coming. I couldn't push the image of Jace's face from my mind, his skin peeling off into chunks, blood seeping out and staining the white of his skull. His shark-like teeth could have easily ripped off my flesh if I hadn't woken up. I didn't realize I was crying until a tear landed on my hand. Harry gently pulled me down to lay with my body in his arms.
"Why don't you tell me what happened?" So, I begin. He doesn't respond, just nods his head and rubs my back. When I'm done, Harry just held me.
"What time is it?" My question breaking the silence.
"Mmm. 11:30."
I closed my eyes and my mind didn't register what he actually said.
I bolted up out of bed and ran for the door.
"Meadow? What's wrong?" I was already tripping down the stairs.
I had missed two days of school, and I couldn't afford to skip anymore.
I poured myself a glass of milk, then ran back upstairs to get dressed. I knew I would be late, but I was hoping to get to school by the time lunch started, so I could get my homework from all the teachers and get started. I grabbed a brush and almost yanked all my hair out, then I threw open my closet doors, grabbed skinny jeans, a graphic t-shirt with the British flag, and a dark blue beanie. Just as I'm slipping into my black lace Toms, Harry stumbles in, still sleepy.

"Where'd ya go? And what are you doing?" I am absolutely in love with the way his morning voice sounds! It's so deep and raspy and just per-fect.
"I have to go to school! I've missed two days, and I have to go back today!" I say rushing past him. I quickly run back down the stairs, and grab my bag, checking to see that everything's still there. Just as I scream 'Bye Harry!' and am heading to the door, the door opens to reveal my mother. Shit.
"Hi Meadow! I'm back!" Her face is sunburnt, but covered with a smile, nonetheless.
"Hey mom!" I have to put on a fake smile before I realize what's going to happen. Harry's inside, probably in my room, and my mother has returned at the worst possible timing.
"Why aren't you at school? Are you sick?" She picks up her small bag, and walks past me inside the house. She only needs one small bag for a seven day trip because the only thing she wears are the same pair of yoga shorts, and a tank top.
"Oh! Umm no, I was just about to leave. I- I woke up late, and.. yeah." I was silently trying to communicate with Harry, telepathically telling him to get the hell out, but I guess we don't have that connection yet.
"Well you better hurry! Oh I just had the best time in Fernando de Noronha! It was so peaceful there! They even had amazing room service, but they could use a little help on their fruit smoothies. Also, I got a call the other day from someone in Puerto Rico, and he said all the yogis want me to come back and teach more classes. He went on and on about how much they-" Her rambling abruptly stopped as she looked past me. I swiveled my body around to see Harry, but thank the lord he was wearing a shirt. Maybe our telepathy did work, he just didn't hear me correctly?
"Hello, are you Mrs. Aster?" Harry had moved up to stand right behind me, so my back was pressed to his stomach. He reached out his hand, and my gaping mother shook it.
"Uhh- umm yes. I'm her mother. But just Ms., I'm not married." Her utter shock had turned into friendliness. She wasn't the type of mother who would freak about every little thing I did with a guy, but I wasn't sure what her reaction to this would be. Her eyes seemed to bore holes into my head as she stared at me with such intensity.
"Alrighty then! How about you two can talk later, but uh, Harry? Let's get going?" I grabbed Harry's hand as I tried pulling him away.
"Okay. You two better get to school, and how about Harry can come by after dinner for some cookies?" My mom's question was directed at Harry, but she was looking between the both of us.
"Sounds lovely, thank you ma'am." I couldn't get over how polite Harry was.
Once we were safely in the car, Harry turned to me.
"Well that was a nice way for your mum to meet me."
I laughed along with him, knowing what he meant.
Once we were pulling up in front of the school, I opened the door and got out.
"What?" I heard Harry say a few steps behind me, "I don't get a goodbye kiss?"
"You're skipping another day of school?" I put my hands on my hips.
"Yeah, baby, now I'll pick you up after school." He snuck a quick kiss on my nose, and I smiled at him as he got back into the car.
After a long day of school, and my bag and arms completely filled with books, I dropped everything on the couch, and went into the kitchen to grab a snack. My glass of milk was sitting on the counter where I hastily left it this morning, untouched. Harry had picked me up from school like he promised, but he was still outside, on the phone with someone. His face had paled when he answered the phone, but told me to go inside. It was no one important.
I took out the last muffin left in my muffin basket, wondering where all the muffins had gone. They were just made yesterday. After my delicious muffin, I went into the living room to clean up the books that had fallen everywhere.
The front door closed, and I looked up to see Harry.
"Hey! Who was that?"
"I told you, no one!" He snapped.
"Okay, sorry." I was only curious, something was wrong.
"No, I'm sorry." He moved towards me, engulfing me in a big hug.
He let me go, and I told him I'd be upstairs doing homework. The teachers had given me loads of homework, but mostly I had to read all the stuff they covered and write about what I learned from it. They were expecting it all to be finished by Friday, and today was Wednesday, so I had tonight and tomorrow to finish.
I had no idea what time it was, but by looking out my window, it should be around midnight. The door opened, and I looked up to see Harry.
"You're still here?" I asked him.
"Yeah. I wouldn't leave without saying goodbye." His cheeky smile warmed by heart, and I wanted nothing more than to poke his adorable dimples.
"Have you been working this entire time?"
I nodded my head, "This is all due Friday morning, I have to finish as much as I can tonight."
He walked over and sat down behind me on my bed, and started massaging my aching back.
"You missed the interesting talk I had with your mum." I could hear the smirk in his voice.
"What? Oh." I recalled my mother mentioning cookies and a talk. "So what did she say?"
"Well she only asked about a million questions about me, including why I was here overnight. I said you were having nightmares, and that you wanted me to stay."
I nodded my head a bit.
"I didn't know you had glasses?" His voice was quiet in my ear, making my eyes flutter closed for a moment.
"Normally, I wear contacts, but my eyesight is complete crap, so I still use my glasses."
They were what most would call nerd glasses, because of the wide lenses, and black frame, but I thought they suited me. Plus, I was into that stuff.
Harry's hands stopped rubbing, and snaked their way around my waist, pulling me into his lap.
Planting kisses all over my neck.
"Harry!" I protested, laughing.
After he was satisfied, he let me lean against him, my head on his chest.
My hand traced the tattoos visible through his white shirt. Suddenly, I wanted to hear the story behind them.
"Why do you have all these tattoos?" My voice was so quiet, I was surprised that he actually heard me.
"I dunno. Just seemed like a good idea."
"I like them." I whispered.
"Really?"
"Yeah. I'm not sure it was the best idea to get them all, but I like them."
"Each of them tell a story. I know that sounds ridiculous, but... I dunno."
"It's not ridiculous." I assure him. If anything, that makes me love him more.
"Will you explain one of them?" He looked at me with a quizzical expression.
"Yeah, sure. Which one do you want?"
"The one that says 'I can't change'"
"Well, I got it when I was sixteen. I knew a guy who was good with tats and he gave it to me. I felt that people didn't like who I was. They couldn't accept the way I acted and so I was angry. I said to them, 'I can't change' and that was that." I let his words sink in. Who would make fun of the way Harry was? He was perfect, how could they not realize?
I guess I had been quiet for too long, because Harry mumbled to me, "What are you thinking?"
"I'm trying to figure out why people wouldn't like you." At this, Harry chuckled a bit.
My eyelids were getting heavier by the second, and in Harry's arms, I felt secure and safe. I felt as if nothing could ever harm me. I drifted off thinking about a young curly-haired, green eyed boy being made fun of for being himself.

****HARRY'S POV****

I looked down at Meadow's perfect face, as she fell asleep. I gently removed her glasses and set them on her nightstand. Leaning my head down a bit, I whispered in her ear, 'I love you, Meadow', before turning off her light, and falling asleep.

I woke up to my ringtone buzzing in my pocket.
"What?" I grumble after answering.
"Harry! Why did you hang up on me?" Her shrill voice hurts my ears.
"Jessica, I don't want to talk now." I was trying to be quiet so I wouldn't wake the sleeping girl.
"You didn't want to talk about it earlier, we have to talk NOW!"
"What do we have to talk about, I thought we already sorted through everything."
"No, you ran out on me, without saying goodbye. How is that sorting through everything!?"
"I gotta go, Jess." I mutter before ending the call, and shutting off my phone so she can't call back. I thought had desperately hoped she wouldn't find me, but now she knows exactly where I am.
