*Cat’s POV*

Call it timing, call it anticipation, call it whatever you want. He was going to kiss me, I knew he was going to. He was agonizingly slow, almost cherishing the moment. He was waiting for a reaction. He wanted something. I wasn’t going to give in. At least, not yet. How far would he go? His breath was hovering over mine and I could see him glancing between my lips and my eyes, asking for permission, getting neither acceptance nor denial.

If he wanted an answer, he would have to pull the first move. He was so close I could feel our breaths hitting each other’s faces, our noses brushing. I could feel his thumb lightly brushing my cheek, his fingers brushing back my hair. His other hand came up, and I watched as he slowly cocked his head coming forward, both of our eyes slowly closing, waiting for the impact.

A sudden noise coming from above made us both jump apart quickly. We both looked up, hearing the stomping of feet followed by softer footsteps. It didn’t take a mere two minutes before we heard loud music playing from above. I could hear Louis whispering a mutter beside me. “Damn buzz killer.”

Colton had a strange deal about timing. It always killed me how he was able to do just that. I suppose his luck was good, but still, I silently cursed him for interrupting a moment like this. Louis and I met eyes again, still close but nowhere near as close as we were a few minutes ago. Somehow the stared turned into laughter as it was soon drowned out by the music upstairs getting increasingly louder.

Our laughter died upon hearing the lyrics of the song playing. Being with Colton these past few weeks, I quickly learnt he had a fetish for Irish and British bands, The Script being one of them.

“…when you cried and told the truth…”

We sat for a moment, our eyes meeting as the song continued to sing along. I could feel that spark starting to come back, just like the moment we had not long before.

“And you’re trying to save me from your past of bad decisions, but my decision is always going to be to follow you (to follow you).”

Louis’ hand reached up, brushing my hair gently back as he leaned forward. I responded slightly by leaning in also, both of our heads cocking slightly. There was a small smile coming on Louis’ face, as if something was slightly amusing him, but I wasn’t really caring about that. The anticipation was settling in, and my heart fluttered the moment our lips met.

The kiss was slow, sweet, and passionate. The warm feeling ended a little too soon as Louis pulled back slightly, our eyes opening to stare at each other for a brief moment.

“I asked her why she’s running away. Said she was born this way. Bad man’s gonna take her away, take her away, yeah.”

His fingers traced down my temple down my cheek to my jawline.

“I asked her why she's running away. Said she was born to live this way. I'll never let a bad man take you away, take you away…”

I wasn’t even sure if Louis was listening to the song, but he quickly overlapped his lips with mine. The small, warm kiss we had before quickly changed into something else. It was almost like a promise sealed with this kiss. It was… good. This felt good.

“And we don’t even know where we’re going, but I’m sitting with you and I’m glowing…”

This was the first time in a very long time I felt at peace. I knew then that with Louis, I’ll be fine. I’ll be better off with him. No matter what danger lied ahead, I would stay by his side and together we can protect each other.

He was all I needed.

Lol i didn't even realize the chapter before this had a huge cliffhanger. I think i mentioned in the last chapter about a song featured in this chapter :o Glowing by The Script. I dunno, i thought it fit the mood well.
