Into the Details

"You NEED to pick a date!" Gemma insisted for the eleventh time only over the last 5 minutes.

"Gem.." I sighed, also correcting my sister for the eleventh time.

"We will." Mia replied calmly with a smile.

"Don't follow Zayn's path and remain engaged for longer than a year.." My mum pepped in.

"You too?" I raised my eyebrows at her.

"I'm just saying! I don't want to biase anything, it's up to you two but I'm just saying.." She defended.

"Have you and my mum been talking?" Mia intervened, changing the topic.

"We have! Erica and I have been discussing a few topics about the wedding."

"I'm afraid to ask.." Mia replied.

"Don't worry, dear. Just two old ladies discussing the excitment of our kids' wedding."

I shook my head. The four of us remained sat on the couch as we discussed a few other topics before mum and Gem left for the night.
Mia and I moved to the bedroom and started preparing ourselves to sleep. I walked to the closet and removed my shirt. Only then I felt Mia's arms wrap around my stomach and her warm lips press to my back.

I hummed in response, enjoying the warmth of her plump lips pressing to my bare back with delicate kisses. I squeezed her arms and turned around. Then she spoke;

"Wanna share a bath?"

I smiled largely with a nod. "Sounds like the perfect night."

In the bathroom, we removed our clothing while the hot water was running and climbed in so Mia could lay on me. As soon as I opened my arms, she stepped inside and laid on my chest, my arms instantly wounding around her stomach under water.

None of us spoke for a while, letting our bodies relax under the hot temperature of the bath. It felt amazing to end the day like this, having a relaxing bath with my fianceƩ before the recovering sleep for yet another day.

"Wouldn't it be amazing if all our nights could end up like this?" Mia whispered my exact same thoughts.

"Nothing's stopping us, love."

"Hmm,"

I frowned. "What?"

"We agreed marriage is forever but have you ever thought about the real meaning of it? There will be times where I'll come home tired from work and so will you. Or even when we fight, you know that happens a lot.. Not all nights will be as perfect as today."

"So? If we fight, we kiss and make-up.. And THEN have a bath!" I replied, poking her in the stomach.

Mia giggled, letting out a deep sigh and settling more confortably into me.

"I know you worry we'll fall into rotine like lots of couples do after marriage but it's up to us to lead our life together."

"I know. But we don't have the best examples in terms of sticking together, I mean, look at our parents. Yours are divorced and mine were too."

"What's worrying you the most?" I questioned, already knowing there's something bugging Mia inside her little head. She always thinks too much of things, too far ahead.

"I just don't want to end up like them. I know even though divorced, your parents have a great friendly relationship and so did mine but I don't want that happening to us. Ever."

"We are NOT our parents!" I assured her."No matter what, we're the ones who'll have to fight for our marriage, no one else. If we go through a rough time, we go together. If you get sick, I'll take care of you. If I'm sad, you'll comfort me. It's about living life together baby, and we've been doing that for a while now. Pretty good, I must add."

"I know, I'm not worried about that part." She replied firmly, her hands running up and down my bent knees supporting her. "But we can't predict what will happen in 5, 10 years time. What if something happens and we fight so hard, we won't be able to fix it?"

"You always think too far ahead of you. In 5, 10 years time as you say, we'll hopefully extend our family and have our own kids. We'll be so, so happy that nothing will break us apart if we don't let it. Do you see yourself alone or at least without me in the future?"

"No." She blurted out without missing a beat.

"See? Neither do I! That must mean something.." i assured as I ran my nose up and down her jaw.

Mia tilted her head back and shot me the most dazzling smile, her blue eyes big and bright. "And to think there's literally millions of girls wanting to be me right now - laid in a bathtub with you completely naked while talking about a solid future together.."

"Doesn't that say too much already about my commitment to our future? I'm chosing you over millions. You must be pretty damn special." I kissed her pink lips.

"I must, right?" She took it in a lighter tone even though the sentence had a much deeper entitlement.

"I'm just waiting for something similar from you now.." I teased.

"I moved around the world to live with you when I was 18, sought by tons of Portuguese hot guys. I mean, there was practically a queue of them."

"I can imagine.."

"So I guess we're even in that respect."

"I can never win with you, can I?" I shook my head at her.

"Get used to that, you're the one who submited to staying with me forever.."

"Gladly." I promised with a kiss to her wet shoulder.

-

2 months later..

I was laid on my stomach in bed, mindlessly scrolling through my iPhone when Mia peeked her head inside the room with a sweet look.

"How much will it cost me?" I joked.

She threw me one of the pillows and sat on her side of the bed. "Wanna come shopping?"

"What do I get out of it?"

"A kiss."

"What about two?"

She grinned. "Done." Then she laid down and smashed a loud kiss to my cheek.

"Hmm, that's good but I meant other kind of kisses."

"Only if you get up."

"Give me a kiss first."

"Harry..." Mia whined.

"C'mon. What's the rush?"

"I need a few things and I don't want to return when it's night already! What were you doing anyways?"

"Just... checking for news. Someone on twitter asked me if they could marry you."

"Who?"

"Dunno." I shrugged.

"It was probably my lover, don't mind it." She teased lightly.

"Yeah, yeah. Good thing you're not marrying anyone else.."

"Why?"

"Because you're mine."

"Possessive: check!"

"Knowing what belongs to me: check!" I reasoned.

"Get your ass off bed, Haz!"

"Alright." I sighed dramatically, my hand trailing up and down her jeans covered leg.

With a glare, Mia slapped my hand away and stood up. "I'm gonna call my mum. You have 5 minutes to be downstairs."

"Yes, mum!" I yelled when she was already out of the room though I swear I could almost hear her rolling her eyes at me.

Once out of the room, Mia was downstairs ending her call and bag in hand. Upon seeing me, she hung up and glanced from her phone up at me.

"Ready?"

"Yeah," I replied, taking two strides to reach her. My hand held her chin up to me.

"One.. two." I murmured while pressing my lips to hers twice. "Now we can go."

"Three." She whispered playfully with another peck and we were out.

Mia's shopping mainly consisted in some new professional outfits, for her new job at this Psychology office as an intern, and a couple Psychology books. It was slightly boring until she asked for my opinion on the clothing and I had a peek behind the curtain of her dressing room.
Over all, we were done in two hours and I was hungry.

"Let's eat something." I suggested.

"Okay."

We stepped inside the car again and I drove to some near cafe that serves great pancakes.

"What do you wanna eat?"

"Hmm, just pick any type of pancakes and a strawberry milkshake."

"Alright, go sit down." I said as I moved to the counter to grab our food.

I ordered and sat down as the waiter promised to bring our snack soon.

"So, we should probably listen to everyone and start looking into some details for the wedding.." I spoke after our food arrived.

"Yes. But we need to decide roughly when we want it so we can plan it better." She said while forking a piece of pancake.

"When would you want it to be?"

"I don't know. I just don't want it in any crowded months like our birthday month or December; it's christmas and new years, Louis' birthday.. Just too much to add a wedding date.."

"December's in a couple months so... say - next month?"

"No." She chuckled slightly.

"Two months?"

"Harry.." She shook her head with a small smile playing on her lips.

"What?"

"There's no way we can arrange a wedding in such short notice. It's not like a birthday party!"

"I know. Honestly - Any time is good for me but I'd rather have it sooner than later. I want you to be my wife as soon as I can."

Mia smiled at my choice of words, her hand reaching for mine on the table for a little squeeze. "That's sweet."

"I want you to start thinking about something else besides the wedding."

"What is it?" She glanced at me with curious blue eyes.

"Our honeymoon! You chose the destination; a place you've always wanted to go and we will."

"No, we'll come up with it together. As well as every decision concerning the wedding itself. Don't think you'll bail and it'll be up to me to decide everything just because I'm the bride!" She reasoned seriously.

"It wasn't my idea to!" I defended. "It's my wedding too, after all.."

"You don't say.."

"Now seriously, we need to come up with the month at least. My mum and yours will stop bugging us about it. You've been with that engagement ring for roughly 2 months now.." I pointed at her left ring finger.

"It's a short time considering many people remain engaged for a year.."

"That won't be our case." I shook my head at her. "I want us to be married before that. Can you imagine hearing Gemma for 10 more months?"

Her eyes widened considerably. "Definitely not!"

"Thought so!"

"Well, I guess it could be during spring? Like April or May, maybe?"

"Hmm," She debated on it. "I like May actually. And the weather's nice."

That'd be around 8 months away from now..

I smiled largely at her. "May it is!"

"Done! What about the place?"

"I don't mind having it here if you want, imagine the people that'd have to fly to Portugal exclusively for the wedding.."

"Or we could have it somewhere else? Somewhere we want that's neither Portugal or England so everyone's equal.."

"I like that idea.." She nodded softly.

"We're getting somewhere now! Keep eating and we'll leave this place with the day and hour set." I told her only to earn to earn a large smile from my soon to be wife.

It's amazing how you know my writing and that I don't do happily ever after which is true but I don't think I've ever mentioned that (?)
And yes, I'm replying 6 months later, sorry.
I do envision the next step after that last chapter ended but that, of course, is gonna stay in my head. :)
